Project manager / PMO

Purpose of the function

In general, manage one or more projects (or parts of a project) according to the corresponding standards in terms of planning, quality and budget in order to participate in the offer of useful applications for internal collaborators and customers.

The Project Manager will initially manage a multi-year strategic project whose objective is the modernization of business applications (RPG) by rewriting them, after reengineering the processes, in Java. Depending on developments, the PM will be required to bring his expertise to the realization of other support projects (M365 deployment, for example).

As

Project Manager:

manage and plan the project (or part), from start to finish, to complete it on time and on budget and in accordance with specifications and guidelines

Examples of tasks

  • determine the procedure for projects (or parts of them), their planning, their field of application, the resources allocated and the expected result
  • planning the execution and realization of projects (or parts thereof)
  • collaborate in the evaluation of projects
  • identify risks and timing changes and make proposals, based on them, for timing or project plan changes

Coordinator:

carry out the operational coordination and planning of the execution of the project (or part of it), taking into account the human, material and budgetary resources allocated to the project (or part of it) in order to ensure its efficient execution

Examples of tasks

  • develop the concrete planning and timing of the different phases
  • follow the execution and guarantee the respect of the schedule and the achievement of objectives
  • coordinate the tasks of project collaborators
  • report regularly on the progress of activities
  • distribute the different tasks between the project collaborators

Analyst:

analyze the processes and data coming from different sources, according to the objectives to be achieved in order to redefine the processes related to the project (or to a part of it), on the basis of an in-depth analysis of this information, or to develop new processes

Examples of tasks

  • collect statistics and compare information
  • write analytical notes on topics related to the project (or part of it)
  • identify information flows or work processes
  • map the processes analysed

Coach:

support, supervise and monitor project collaborators in order to ensure the optimal use of the experience and skills present

Examples of tasks

  • assist employees and take care of complex tasks
  • train employees in the project methodology (preferably Prince2)
  • support project employees in their development (for example: Agile / Scrum application)
  • give feedback to employees

Contact person:

fulfill the role of contact person in order to transmit to the different parties information on the content and progress of the project (or part of it)

Examples of tasks

  • transmit 'templates', lists of questions, etc.
  • write follow-up documents and publications for the project (or part of it)

Advisor:

provide advice, among other techniques, and develop solutions to support operational or strategic decisions using sound advice, taking into account the resources (human, budgetary, etc.) available

Examples of tasks

  • carry out feasibility studies
  • ensure the coordination and execution of analyzes
  • give technical advice
  • report HR needs to allow the project (or part of it) to be carried out within the limits of the authorized budget

Knowledge manager:

acquire, maintain and expand specialist knowledge on the basis of developments in order to act as a point of contact

  • become familiar with the specialist subject of the projects under his responsibility

  • consult the specialized literature
