Cloud Infrastructure Engineer - Linux, IaaS, SaaS, AWS

You have experience building and operating a Linux environment and IaaS/SaaS cost effectively.

You could be working on projects such as:

  • Building solutions to keep the Linux estate both onprem and cloud secure and up to date.
  • Designing and implementing a central solution for Linux infrastructure management and monitoring.
  • Providing self service APIs and tools that enable delivery teams to utilise the monitoring solutions.
  • Providing support to other delivery teams and helping them utilise core SaaS infrastructure products effectively.
  • Ensuring our solutions have high engineering standards (robust, fit for purpose, include synthetic testing and/or application monitoring and meet our quality standards)
  • Work as part of an agile team implementing software development best practices including test automation, continuous deployment and application monitoring.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong programming skills (the team uses python and bash but skills in other languages and an experience of switching languages is also good).
  • Knowledge of operating IaaS/SaaS infrastructure services and ways to maximise the value such services bring to an organisation.
  • Hands on experience with AWS, especially cloudformation and lambda.
  • Able to setup and manage continuous integration jobs, continuous delivery pipelines and config management tools like ansible and cloudformation
  • Exposure to using and building on top of industry standard monitoring tools for both on prem and cloud usage including Splunk, Graphite and AWS Cloudwatch
  • Collaborative, knowledge sharing, customer focussed attitude.


  • Experience with designing APIs and working with REST-based microservices.
  • Demonstrable unit testing skills, preferably with TDD experience and exposure to a variety of mocking techniques and frameworks.
  • Experience working within an environment where operational support and monitoring of code & systems is part of the culture (DevOps).
  • Hold an AWS certification e.g. AWS certified solution architect - associate or similar.
