Automation Test Manager - Selenium

In this role you will lead a team of 6 in testing existing and new applications.
You will work to ensure that quality testing is carried out by the team, solutions deployed are fit for purpose and accepted by users and project stakeholders.
The role has a European remit to ensure best practise across all affiliates.

Responsibilities include:

  • Define and implement the Test automation strategy including tool selection and rollout so this becomes the defacto method of testing
  • Define IT Projects Test Strategy to cater for various development methodologies.
  • Be responsible for code management between environments, owning the release management and automation aspects.
  • Make use of appropriate testing tools and services (undertaking formal software / vendor selection where appropriate)
  • Make use of external suppliers, capabilities and resources where appropriate, to the extent of having an external testing service capability.
  • Ensure that the testing strategy is kept up to date in the light of industry trends and changing business needs
  • Create Test Documentation templates to support test activities
  • Represent the testing work stream at IT Management meetings and Project stakeholder meetings
  • Manage Test activities across projects
  • Coordinate Live Support defect retesting within IT and across business work streams
  • Schedule pre-production environment usage
  • Liaise with the Service Delivery Manager on deployments and environment refreshes
  • Provide cross project status updates to both IT and Business and resource schedules on a weekly basis
  • Escalate issues or risks to Head of UK IT and IT Project Managers
  • Recruit new resources and coach and develop team members as appropriate

To be a success in this role, you will need:

  • Extensive system testing experience, utilising Selenium Webdrive and including team management responsibility
  • Experience implementing automation frameworks including tool selection
  • Solid test management background within a fast-paced business with experience using multiple testing technologies.
  • Defining a test strategy including test approach, test data management and environments.
  • Functional test planning, preparation and execution including experience of test design techniques.
  • Managing and executing non-functional tests such as load testing, penetration testing and UI testing.
  • Leading and managing a distributed team of test analysts.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management and written English skills.
  • Working with Agile and Waterfall delivery processes.
  • Working knowledge of one or more source configuration management and defect tracking systems.
  • Strong functional understanding of the utility industry.
  • Confident manner in giving presentations and workshops
